Battalion Bash – Launch Planning July 5th

After 2 and a half years of being a supporters group without a team, mid July will see that all change. So excited to finally say that in a few shorts weeks we will know the team name, crest and colours, and be a part of the creation of this club during its launch into the Canadian Premier League.

On July 5th (Thursday evening) there will be a pub night shortly before launch, where we want to talk plans with the group, and let everyone know our involvement with the club and their proposals for including us for the big day, to throw around ideas for the event, discuss where in the stadium we plan to chose as our home, and a few other bits of information.

The Capitol Bar will play host again, it’s fast becoming a perfect venue for us. Bring your scarf, bring your voice, have a drink, bring your soccer obsessed friends, as it will be the last chance to say ‘I was here before we had a team’.

This is an open invite, please add yourself to the facebook event link. If you have not attended an event before, this is the perfect time. All are welcome.

It’s finally here, Hamilton and soccer, a professional team to call our own, and its going to be glorious! ⚒️

Stadium Filming, Colours and The Capitol Bar

Hamilton CanPL launch is coming up soon, and this Thursday (june 14th) the team have asked all group members to come down for an hour while they film some footage for the launch. We will find out the teams colours. Afterward there will be drinks at The Capitol Bar where we will discuss with the team specific points for the group like supporters section location. Filming will start at 7pm. This is an open invite to all Battalion group members. For more information please visit our facebook event

Bring your Battalion gear, come get a beer on the Hamilton team, and be a part of the creation of this club!

Battalion Meet-Up May 24th

This Thursday May 24th, we are having probably our most important meet up to date. Believe me when I say there is a LOT of big things to cover, so if you can, please come and join us. This time it will be held at The Capitol Bar (973 King St E), a venue we intend to use just prior to kick off for the Canada v Germany game next month, so it seems apt to get to know the place. There will be an email coming out shortly, but the majority of information will be during the meet-up on Thursday. So bring your scarf, have a pint, and help shape what is going to be an exciting few weeks moving forward.

Hamilton United to Join League 1 Ontario in 2018

When the 2018 League One Ontario season kicks off this summer, Hamilton United will be one of the 31 teams playing across both genders. A new entrant to the league, Hamilton will play an 18 game season beginning at the end of April.

From their site, League1 Ontario is the only pro-am, standards-based, senior league in Ontario. Founded in 2014, the league began with a 10 team Men’s division, which has now grown to 16 teams and includes a separate 11-team women’s division.  League1 Ontario serves as a stepping stone between the youth, amateur ranks, and the full-on professional sides. Sanctioned by Ontario Soccer, the league’s focus, first and foremost, is the development of Canada’s future stars.

The Battalion will be at these games as a warm up for 2019 – stay tuned for schedule information.

You can read more about the League One Expansion here.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR TICATS GAMES!

For every home game this season the Ticats are giving us a booth to sell our merch!

In order to run this we’re looking for two volunteers a game to help out. Here’s the deal – run the booth from opening to half time, then pack up and watch the second half of the game with your free tickets. This will be huge for us to get the word out and make some cash for the group – please check your calendars and find the time to help out with a game or two. The schedule is provided below, let me know via twitter or email and we’ll get you set up!

Thanks all!
James

New Barton Street Mural

Amazing news to share that our Ambitious City Scarf is now part of a mural up at Barton and East Avenue North!! This is one of three new murals on Barton all painted by Tim who is also responsible for the Edu Deo mural at Barton and Gibson. A big thank you to the kind folks at the Barton Village BIA and artist Tim Ninehouse for making this a reality.

Check out the mural below or in person at 314 Barton Street East!

Viewing Parties and New Merch!

Shirts are in! Adding to our collection of scarves and hats, new tops have arrived in time for our next pub night on June 8th.

Weeks ago we asked Hamiltonians on twitter to best describe Hamilton in three words – Ambitious and Resilient were the standouts so we went to Barton Street to get them produced and we ended with a shirt that was Hamilton, inside and out.

Come grab one at our pub night on the 8th and tune into the Canadian women’s friendly with us as well!
